Synopsis:
Woody, Buzz, and the rest of their toy-box friends are dumped in a day-care center after their owner, Andy, departs for college
The Freak's Rating: A+ : Franchises carry on in history as well as their last entry. Most successful formulas are stretched out by Hollywood studios to include at least a sequel and likely a trilogy. Trade publications report that Pixar had a trilogy in mind the entire time with Toy Story, and it is apparent from frame 1 of the film.
Who doesn't remember ooing and ahhing at the first Toy Story? The entire world was amazed at the capability that computers would now bring to the cinema. Discussions started on every fan forum about whether or not we'd even need actors anymore! Years later we now realize it wasn't THAT big of an evolution, but it is still fascinating to watch. Shadows, human movement and flat out believability are on display as fine as ever in Toy Story 3. This is a film that could have easily rested on its laurels with technology. Instead, Toy Story 3 once again exceeds our expectations and truly brings characters to life in a way in which you don't consider the reality of what you're watching for a single second.
Writing is sharp per usual, performances by all voice actors is phenomenal and the story is completely engrossing. "Bad guys" are especially creepy and you can't help but root for your favorites. Toy Story 3 is a perfect finale to a franchise that will go down in history as one of the best. You quite simply couldn't have provided a better end for our friends Woody and Buzz.
