The Freak's Rating: A : The Simpsons was recently renewed for its 17th season, making it the longest running television show in history.  There are many reasons the show has lasted so long.  The cast stays the same age, allowing for the best familial unit to never become spoiled by kids growing up (think Home Improvement's horrendous last couple seasons where their children grew up).  Animation allows characters to go through physical transformations, cuts, bumps, bruises, etc... and continue the following week with an all-new plot.  The primary reason the show has succeeded on the level it has is the writing.  Much of the original writing crew that started the show 17 years ago is present in this film and therefore it does the show justice in the transformation from small screen to big screen.

The Simpsons Movie had an uphill battle ahead of it before the opening credits and right from the start (with little Ralphie bellowing out the 20th Century Fox theme from within the 0), we know this will live up to the hype.  All major show characters provide their well known voices and the writing is as swift as ever here.  Many jokes carry over from the show, most notably the mystery of what state Springfield is actually located in, but the movie stands on its own.

I laughed quite loudly a number of times and I truly cannot wait til a second one hits theaters.  For fans of the show, this will pay homage to the show.  For those who are new to the series (is that possible?), you should get a kick out of it too.

Sebastian's Rating: A- : The first time i saw the trailer, it was funny. but it was watching the trailer over and over again that made me think this movie wasn't gonna be that funny. (ect movies where the only funny parts are in the trailer.) also being in school, everyone in my grade wouldn't shut up about spiderpig! it irritated me.

what also irritated me was people talking about this movie for ages, for i didn't see this in the movies. I only came to see it on DVD, for my mum didn't let me see it at the time. Alot of parents find the simpsons immature and rude, i find it too safe in my opion, not breaking the limits like south park. However i still like the simpsons from time to time, Because it's a fun family show.

Anyways, about the movie. most movies based on a tv show seem to differ from the series itself. The plot of this movie is actually pretty interesting, silly, but interesting.
there were ltos of funny parts in this movie, i was laughing out loud at some parts, but i felt like something was missing.

However, i have no idea what is missing! good plot, good laughs, hilarious characters, and a fun filled 90 minutes. theres nothing to really complain about.

Alex's Rating: A : Surprisingly good film. Very funny, moving near the end, and it had a different feel to the series.

Brian's Rating: A- : I have got to hand it to the writers of the Simpsons.  They still have got it.  The unique brand of humor that mixes in blatantly ludicrous stereotyping with a not-so-subtle political commentary is still funny even after all these years.

For the most part, the movie is just like watching the TV series, however it is evident that the script and writing had more iterations to polish itself and mercilessly bombard you with jokes of all types and all angles.  It was almost dizzying to keep up with it all, from flash imagery, to one-liners to parady.  For that reason along this easily merits another viewing.

I still find Homer to be the funniest character on the show.  The writers, knowing that fact, placed him at the center of the script.  All of the supporting characters are used, but the script is built around Homer.  The blatant, over-the-top stereotype of the typical fat, dumb, and happy Amertican still cracks me up.  I openly laughed many times during this movie.  Its the best comedy I have seen since Burn After Reading.

Matt Groening is a genius.
