Synopsis:

A mysterious story of two magicians whose intense rivalry leads them on a life-long battle for supremacy -- full of obsession, deceit and jealousy with dangerous and deadly consequences. From the time that they first met as young magicians on the rise, Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman) and Alfred Borden (Christian Bale) were competitors. However, their friendly competition evolves into a bitter rivalry making them fierce enemies-for-life and consequently jeopardizing the lives of everyone around them. Set against the backdrop of turn-of-the-century London.

Brian's Rating: A : This movie is awesome.  I loved it.  I mean, how can you go wrong when you pit Wolverine against Batman with casting?  It is so much better when they use people that have actual British accents when the movie is set in England.

I like movies that give you a mind twist when they are done well.  This one fits the bill.  It throws a couple twists at you, but they all make sense, and its clear to see the driving forces behind what happens.

The only thing bad I have to say about this is that the plot twists were a little over foreshadowed and were a bit predictable.  Where Usual Suspects disguises its twist masterfully, these were a bit more visible.

The movie opens with an explanation of the 3 basic components of all magic tricks:  the pledge, the turn, and the prestige.  It explains these parts, and then the cool part is that the plot of the movie falls lock step into these scheme.  I love the layout.

Great movie.  I cannot believe I had never heard any buzz about this one.  I must have had my head in the sand or something.

The Freak's Rating: A+ : This movie was on my list to watch again and review, in an attempt to lure friends (like Brian) and family to seek it out and see it.  It is one of the more entertaining films of recent years.  It was the first Blu Ray disc I purchased, knowing it would sit on my shelf for the rare occasion when someone came over who hadn't seen a good thriller in a while and hadn't heard of this one.

Christopher Nolan is one of the best director's in the last decade, putting out hit after hit with Memento, the Batman franchise and The Prestige.   Pairing up once again with one of our finest actors in Christian Bale, Nolan is pitch perfect in the delivery of this film.  I disagree with Brian on the ending.  Though I knew something was up, I did not see the ending coming and absolutely loved it.  Therefore I find no flaws in the movie.  The acting is superb, writing wonderful and story intriguing throughout.

The first time I saw this movie, I watched it by myself.  I walked out of my little theater, disc in hand and told Jen that if she wanted to, I would watch it again immediately.  She declined, but later indulged me and had a quite similar reaction.  This is one of the best thrillers I've seen, period.

Sebastian's Rating: A : After seeing this movie in the cinema i couldn't stop thinking what a brilliant ending this movie had. it was not expectful, it was smart and wacky, i dont know what to say when it comes to a movie like this.

now it may be a bit boring. the movie drags on for a bit and half way through you only just start to get hang of the plot. The acting was superb and i think this movie deserves an A, and a true place in my dvd collection.

Storminator's Rating: A- : Wow.  What a ride - now this is entertainment.
