Chana's Rating: B : If anyone is going to see it, I would read the book first...I wouln 't have found it so interesting if I hadn't. Lots to think about in this move!

The Freak's Rating: B- : As I've mentioned in previous reviews, most films that contain religious controversy do better at the box office because of it.  The Da Vinci Code was no exception.  Nutjobs stirred up how it artificially recreated religious events, which only invigorated interest in congregations around the world.  DVC was a huge success worldwide and spanned the greenlight for its sequel, Angels & Demons, which will be hitting theaters next spring.  You must put aside personal interests and offenses you might take when you go to the cinema...you MUST!

Nearly every film out there conflicts with my beliefs on some level.  I don't feel that war is an effective answer all the time, so do I not see Iron Man because the hero is a war weapon manufacturer?  No, that would be silly.  I'm not really a fan of murder, but do I stay away from all films containing it?  That would be crazy.  I am an art aficionado.  I appreciate when art, of which film is a part of, can imitate life or stir up an emotion in its audience.  Therefore I enjoy film more than the average bear, so to speak.

DVC is fiction and though the author of the book has claimed truth to some portions of it, he has enough so called "evidence" to make interesting points.  Do I believe him?  Not exactly, but it makes for an exciting mystery.  Acting is good, writing excellent and storytelling is just shy of a good action/thriller.  All in all, not a bad piece of...wait for it...art.
