Synopsis:
High
school student Dawn (Jess Weixler) works hard at
suppressing her budding sexuality by being the
local chastity group's most active participant.
Preaching abstinence at school and church to the
youth of today, Dawn struggles to be a good
girl. When a situation arises that forces
Dawn's sex drive into action, she discovers
there is something in her vagina that has teeth
and can bite at anything inside it! As a
living testament to the vagina dentata myth,
Dawn soon questions whether this is a curse or a
weapon that has been given to her.
The Freak's
Rating: D- : Teeth
is one of the weirdest concepts for a movie I've
heard of in recent memory. After hearing a
few critics I trust say it was a gem at Sundance
and an indie hit that might make waves on DVD, I
figured I'd give it a shot. After the
first penis was cut off, I started to
reconsider.
The
major flaw with Teeth is that it fails to define
itself as either a horror movie or a comedy.
At times disgusting, Teeth is borderline a shock
and awe picture. However, some lines in
the script are so tongue in cheek that you know
it must be trying to make you laugh. So is
it a comedy or a horror picture? By not
specifying a genre, it fails at both. I
felt uncomfortable laughing and grossed out at
the same time.
Acting is mediocre at best, the script is poorly
written and the style of filmmaking is
completely amateur. The only points this
one scores are from the lead actress, who mildly
pulls off her role. Skip this one though
and wait for her next role...if she has one.
Jen's Rating: F :
My first F! This movie was horrible. It was weird, gross, flat and I
couldn't have cared less about the characters. There were so many parts that
just didn't make sense. Consider my palette squeaky clean.
