Synopsis:

Two teenagers spend their last evening together as high school students attempting to buy booze for hot chicks and get some.

The Freak's Rating: A : We've seen this story before, but it has NEVER been written this well. Superbad is an instant classic worthy of Dazed & Confused or Animal House comparisons right out of the gate. My brother-in-law Matt said it best, "this is how guys talk". A conversation calling breast reduction "a slap in God's face" isn't that far off from how we really sound when we're talking with no girls around.

I am not a fan of people labeling movies such that it seems noone of a certain sex may enjoy them. Labeling has never applied to me. I was just remarking last night that Dirty Dancing was still extremely entertaining, albeit in its own methodology. That said, Superbad is a guy film as much as one can be. Will women like it? I imagine that some will.

Will most women find it offensive? Not if they take the time to appreciate the story. At its heart, Superbad is about two friends growing up and saying goodbye to one another when college comes around. I saw this film with my good friend Nate. After about 15 minutes, Nate was crying he was laughing so hard. When the film was over my head hurt from it as well. Though there is a slight lull in the middle of the film, it wraps up very strong. I left the film excited to see it again. A must-see!

Sebastian's Rating: A- : Yeah interesting movie, i laughed a lot but it was filled with potty language. there was sorta a message in the movie but right at the end could have been better in the mall

ill give it in the A zone for Fogul (McLovin), now he makes u crack up

Nate - A - Yeah, it's an A. When I laugh so hard I miss other jokes, it's an A.

Jen's Rating: A- : Ok, although the language is a little, hmmm how do I put this, raunchy...this movie surprised me.  I was thinking it was going to be a typical guy movie with just a bunch of cursing and guys on a mission to get laid...similar to American Pie (a movie I didn't much care for).  The difference here is that it doesn't turn out how they think it will and to me that truly depicts how life really is (unlike American Pie).  One of the boys ends up standing up for his beliefs, but not in a "cheesy, I'm a perfect kid" kind of way.  But seriously, kids that age...they're not going to be perfect...actually none of us are, it has nothing even to do with age.  But ultimately he really stood up for himself and that says a lot for anyone at any age.  I'm not going to dissect this movie, though, because that's not the kind of movie it is.  This movie was very funny, Michael Cera is literally one of the funniest actors, his delivery is brilliant.  So getting past the cursing and guy talk, as Scott says the heart of this movie is about friendship and all the crazy things you do with your friends in high school... and I liked it a lot.

Brian's Rating: B :The movie was freakin' hilarious.  There were times I could not stop laughing at the antics.  Scott hit the nail on the head on the similarities to Animal House.  Take Animal house, and throw in all the dirty little one-liners one would often think up hours later and wish the wit was present to fire it off spontaneously.
A rate it a B due to a scene near the end where they are both in a sleeping bag lying entirely too close to each other.  On top of that, the words "I love you" should never come out of one teenage male's mouth when directed at another male.  It is "possible" that this was supposed to be making fun of that very thing, but the scene had sort of a serious undertone to it and I could not tell.  The uncertainty as to the motivation of this scene is the reason its a B for me.  Cut it out entirely, and I would rate it up with Animal House.

Lori's Rating: B : This was truely a funny movie.  I was crying at some points with how funny it was.  The language was raunchy at times, but the overall message of the movie was interesting.  I agree with Brian about the scene with them sleeping together at the end, I wasn't sure the placement of that scene or what it was trying accomplish.
