Synopsis:

Shooter is Mark Wahlberg's latest flick to hit the home video market. Wahlberg stars as Bob Lee Swagger, a former military sniper who the government enlists to assist them in preventing an assassination attempt on the President of The United States. Swagger never sees the setup coming and before long finds himself painted as the patsy in the attempted assassination.

Swagger finds his way to his former partner's girlfriend Sarah's house. I never do understand how people who are wanted by the law for murder can convince beautiful women who hardly know them to take them in and help them in commiting more crimes, but in movieland it does work that way and this time as well for Swagger. Kate Mara plays the fore-mentioned Sarah and does everything you think she would in the film, from having a scene where she's half naked with a gun (see pic) to putting nursing skills to work in stitching up the hero's wounds. Danny Glover and Ned Beatty have villainous roles as the political backbone of the conspiracy and are as stereotypical as she is, failing to register one original characteristic in the entire 2 hours of the film.

The Freak's Rating: B : I must preface by saying that Mark Wahlberg is one of my personal favorite actors, so I apologize for any biased spin on reviews of his films. He should have won an Oscar for Boogie Nights and his creativity on Entourage makes it one of the funniest shows on TV. Now on to the movie review...

Now with all that said you might think I didn't like the film. On the contrary, I really enjoyed it. Shooter isn't a movie you watch for a water-tight plot, relatable characters or realistic action scenes. You realize going in that this is a "popcorn movie". It is entertainment, pure and simple. My friend Jeff and I just had a phone conversation comparing film to food. There are films that I know have good content, characters and storylines that will make me think. These are the films with good nutritional value. On the flip side, there are films with zero nutritional content. These films won't make me think, won't make me change my life or care about anything that I didn't beforehand. However, they may entertain the hell out of me. Shooter is "junk food" cinema and in this case it satisifies the craving.

Angie's Rating: C : I like Wahlberg, but this film just didn't measure up for me. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but my overall thoughts after I saw it were, "I'll probably never watch that again and that was disappointing.  It wasn't bad really... it just failed to interest me.

Eric's Rating: B : I just like this kind of stuff. For an action it's what I want. Here I am, I am the demographic they want. I hope senators are not really like that, but why is it kind of believable?

Zach T's Rating: A+ : It totally lived up to its expectations. It also had a great story line that made sense. It also had alot of action seens.

Connor's Rating: A+ : This movie is a must see its really action packed and awesome! its worth owning and watching over and over too
