Synopsis:
A chronicle of the weeks after the
2000 U.S. Presidential election and the subsequent recounts in Florida.
The Freak's
Rating: B+ :
Around the time the recounts were going on, I
was working as an agricultural geneticist for
IFSI in central Illinois. I was in charge
of counting corn seeds for a planting we would
be doing in the spring. It was an
incredibly boring part of the job, one that was
made all the more interesting because I was able
to listen to the chaotic results of the
Presidential election while doing. The
2000 election will forever hold an asterisk for
me. If it doesn't for you, I'd suggest you
do more research before you stand by that
opinion.
HBO
is perhaps the best casting institution on the
planet. They are able to attract enormous
names due to their lack of interference.
For feature films, studios will inject their own
creativity, or sometimes lack thereof, into
films at will, often making the film worse.
HBO notoriously allows full creative control to
directors and therefore stars. It is a
brilliant stance to take, one that has helped to
earn them multiple awards.
Recount is an incredibly well-paced and
well-acted film. The cast is stellar in
all parts played, worth of every award they were
nominated for. If you remember the days
the film is based upon, you'll be entertained
here.
