The Freak's Rating: B : A visit to retro cinema (if you grew up in the 80s) isn't complete with a visit to the Police Academy franchise. Though few in the series are worth anything at all, the original still has some comical flair and is nearly as entertaining as I remember. The franchise has been borrowed some so many times that some of the jokes that took theaters by storm in 1984 now go by as retreads. The aforementioned gags aside, there is still quite a bit of humor here and the performances by Captain Harris and Commandant Lasard are worth revisiting if you grew up with them. Not a must buy, but surely a "leave it on" when you channel surf by it, Police Academy is a worthwhile comedy from the 80s that is still good for a chuckle or two.
