Synopsis:

Best-selling novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) is on his way home from his Colorado hideaway after completing his latest book when he crashes his car in a freak blizzard. Paul is critically injured, but is rescued by former nurse Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), Paul's "number one fan", who takes Paul back to her remote house in the mountains.  After discovering that Paul's latest novel contains material she doesn't enjoy, her reaction is less than admirable towards him.

Brian's Rating: B+ : Stephen King is simply a master of horror.  At least until he sold out with the whole Dark Tower series.  Some of his early stuff just boggles the mind.  He is the master of taking seemingly normal things, and twisting them just enough to freak you out.

I read the book, "Misery", in 8th grade.  Even though it did not freak me out as much as "Pet Cemetery" did, it was still an engaging, intriguing, and downright freaked out novel.

Until today, I never have watched the movie.  It is because, I knew there is absolutely no way the movie could live up to the book.  They never do.  Misery, the film, did not disappoint me in this regard, but it was better than I expected.  I have to say, Kathy Bates makes this film.  She does a masterful job portraying the mentally off-balance Christian widow, and "#1 fan" of Paul Sheldon, Annie Wilkes.  A character who is offended by profanity, but does not bat an eye at taking a life, or brutal masochistic torture.  I can see why Kathy Bates won an award for her role.  It was well deserved.

Give this film a gander if you like having your mind messed with.

Sebastian's Rating: B+ : Like the freak, i did read this book last year, it was only one of the few  books i read that year, for i was starting to gain an interest in steven king.

It wasn't only till last week i rented this movie out. I must say it's a hard movie to watch for it goes on for along time only at 1 hour and 48 minutes, it's because it's in the same house for 2 hours basicly. But putting that factor aside, it doesn't matter.

Now i can't put down anymore more negatives than that, for Kathey bates performance in this movie is outstanding. I mean she pulled of this charactor better than anyone else could! she was a crazy phsyco in love with her favourite auther! And thats the message her acting spread! it's like it was really her. This movie is just fun to watch her get all steamed up over a book! And god i love how she starts off all nice then just gets crazy! It's also funny how she's in love with him and he's trying to escape!

Overall there are soo many things i can point out with this movie because the story is nothing too spectacular but the acting is brilliant! This is just some crazy rides that ends with a crash, and you leave your television thinking what a strange brilliant movie.

The only thing stopping me from giving this an A would most likely be because it's something i most likely wouldn't own, but will watch again someday in the future.
