The Freak's Rating: C+ : This film has a great premise. God gets tired of human beings and decides to move on. Who could blame him? We have definitely screwed up as a species. We have forsaken him morally over and over. Add to that a possessed grandma (see the trailer) and some solid B-list acting and you should have a decent flick. Legion is solid as a film you'll see on TNT at 3am on a night you're up too late and stick with. In that type of tired stupor, you may actually enjoy it. It is only when you begin recapping it to your buddies the next day when you'll realize the error of your intial opinion.
As the film says, "last time he sent a flood, this time..." he sends angels? The plot twist that makes sense of the fact that God doesn't simply blow up the earth instantly and move along is incredibly easy to see coming. Pure logic forces you to search for it instantly and therefore there is little to no surprise when it arrives. Most of the characters are as 2 dimensional as they come: the loner, the burnt out "good old boy", the "truck stop" cook, the rich couple, the criminal, etc... It is a smorgosborg of cliches, but somehow does tinker with your B-movie side and make you enjoy it at times.
There are some good jumpy moments, some cool CGI and decent enough death to make it worthy of a viewing for some. Most of us who are searching for a little more than some mindless entertainment from our cinematic ventures will want to move on.
