Brian's Rating: A+ :
This movie is awesome. It is part Kung Fu, and part Japanese Anime
come to life with direct animation on one part. It is always cool to see a good
choreographed sword fight; it it cool to see chicks doing Kung Fu. When you
combine them, and throw in the Tarantino excellence, then you get a product that
was made just for me.
The plot is a basic revenge plot, and true to form, Tarantino presents it in
such a way that makes him great. The dialog is memorable, and the non-linear
flow keeps you captivated. The sound track is cool, and the characters are
interesting. In my opinion, this is every bit as good as Pulp Fiction.
A side note on Vol. 2, which is really supposed to be the second half of a
single movie. It was simply not as good. It did not follow the same action
oriented style, and was a disappointment to me other than to fill in the story.
The
Freak's Rating: A : I agree with Brian on every point except his rating.
The magnetism to dialogue that Tarantino is so masterful with is not there in
Kill Bill Volume 1, not as it has been in films like Pulp Fiction. I left
Pulp Fiction mesmerized at the attraction I had developed for the characters.
Well written dialogue makes that tie easy to make as an audience member and
Tarantino was in top form there, but not here.
That lacking drops this to an A, but
this is still an amazing film. Bloody, comic book kung fu action has never
been done so well and Tarantino's brilliant style keeps the audience into it
from start to finish. Even if you are turned off from the violence, don't
try to tell me you turned away for a second! The better of the two Kill
Bill films, volume 1 is a solid piece of filmmaking.
Sebastian's Rating: A- : i dont know if it deserves an A+, however it's
one of Tarantino's best movies. I love the anime/live aciton of this movie, i
havent seen the second but i still should. because this movie delievered alot of
action, making me want to see another one.
