Synopsis:
George Bailey spends his entire life
giving up his big dreams for the good of his town, Bedford Falls. On
Christmas Eve, he is broken and suicidal over the misplacing of a loan and the
machinations of the evil millionaire, Mr. Potter. His guardian angel, Clarence,
falls to Earth, literally, and shows him how his town, family, and friends would
turn out if he had never been born. George meant so much to so many people;
should he really throw it all away?
The
Freak's Rating: A : My mother watches this movie every Christmas and I
believe I'll start joining her from here on out. Having seen the movie
growing up and rarely since I was eager to get back in touch with what made this
a true classic film this year. My mother, Jen & I made a point to watch
the entire film this Christmas in Illinois. It was absolutely wonderful.
The scenes shot with a soft filter
attached to the lens are overproduced, the editing is horrific and some of the
cinematography ridiculous. That not withstanding, this is a true wonder to
behold. Made 62 years ago, the storyline is still solid, the acting good
and the message phenomenal.
If there is someone out there who
hasn't seen this film, rush out and buy a copy. It will no doubt grace
your screen each and every Christmas, as I will ensure it does mine.
Jen's
Rating: A : Excellent movie! It says a lot that I like this movie because I
have a hard time with the black and whites. But this movie stands the test of
time with it's relevant humor and inspiring story. A Christmas classic and
feel-good movie all around.
