Synopsis:
I Now Pronounce You Chuck &
Larry is the story of two best
friend New York City firefighters. Larry (James)
has been through a rough patch as of late,
losing his wife and now raising two kids on his
own. Chuck (Sandler) is a ladies man, with
a different girl every night and living the
single life to the extreme.
After a realization of the
dangers of his career, Larry decides he needs
to put his children first and plan for their
future. There is only one problem...and
its a biggie. Apparently Larry forgot to
make a beneficiary change on his pension when
his wife died. Because of this error,
Larry's children stand to not benefit at all
from their father's pension and wind up in
foster homes. The solution? Contact
an attorney to remedy the situation in about 20
minutes? No way! Fake a marriage to
your best friend? Definitely!
The Freak's
Rating: F : I Now Pronounce You Chuck &
Larry is the first movie I am seeing based upon
a User's recommendation. This site's
success does depend upon User satisfaction, so I
will continue to take suggestions.
However, this one did make me pause and
reconsider for a moment or two.
Adam Sandler has made a
couple comedies that made me
laugh, including Billy Madison and
Happy Gilmore. I still can't play golf
without quoting it. His style of humor is
sophomoric, but sometimes amusing enough to
merit a watch. Kevin
James is the star of The King Of Queens, a funny
television show Jen & I watch on occasion
(reruns on Tivo suggestions). Jessica Biel
is thrown in as an obvious attempt at adding
heterosexuality to a homosexually-toned flick.
So I suppose I could understand why some people
were roped into seeing this film.
Chuck & Larry's marriage is
soon investigated by the state and attorney Alex
(Jessica Biel) is brought on to defend them.
Sexual tensions rise when Chuck is attracted to
Alex but can't act on it due to his former
"commitment" to Larry. Will Chuck & Larry
come clean about their lie? Will Chuck end
up with Alex?
After I watched this movie, I
felt I owed it to my PS3 to run a
disc cleaner and whisper "I'll never hurt you again".
This movie is disgustingly awful. It is extremely offensive, with
use of the word faggot about 30 times. The
jokes are ridiculous and range from Sandler
immitating James' dead wife to various ass
smacks (because that is of course what gay
people do all the time). Every gay stereotype is
thrown into the film and exploited for laughs.
Yes, the soap is even dropped in the shower.
Of course you see people turn out to be gay in
the end in a Spartacus-style defense of Chuck &
Larry as well. The worst thing about this
film is that it preaches, in its own juvenile
way, tolerance of the gay lifestyle...all the
time insulting it on a level I never thought
possible. Lance Bass, recently outed NSync
member, even has a guest role
during the "can't we all just get along" ending
that nearly made me vomit. Stay as far
away from this film as possible. It is
absolute junk.
Sebastian's Rating: F :
can i do that? F-? yes so gay and what the heck but honestly this is

Jennifer M's Rating: F :
Your comment about needing to clean the player is exactly how I felt.
I was really disappointed with this movie. I enjoy a lot of Kevin James' work
and Adam Sandler too. I can't believe these two would even agree to making this
movie. I felt the film had zero imagination. It seemed as though every line in
the script was based on goofy sterotypes. I think I deserve a credit on my
Netflix acccount after watching this. Do yourself a favor and skip this
horrible movie. Don't do it! You will regret it.
Storminator's Rating: F : Another "F" rating is redundant here, but I
feel compelled to add my voice to the masses. Even if you can somehow manage to
not be offended by the avalanche of gay stereotypes, there is still not one
single redeeming quality to this movie. Not one.
