Synopsis:
Horton (voiced by Jim Carrey) is a
playful elephant who happens upon a tiny village of whoville, located on a
speck. Having extremely sensitive hearing, Horton is the only creature in
the forest that can hear it. The mayor of whoville (Steve Carell) soon
becomes the conversational conduit between Horton and the tiny village.
The two become friends as Horton attempts to save the village by placing it in a
safe place where nobody can find it and they'll be able to live in peace.
Fighting against an evil kangaroo and her mercenary vulture, Horton's job won't
be easy.

If you ask me the folks at Pixar have
figured out how to make a kids movie. They have a look to them that kids
and adults like, there is a great deal of consideration that goes into writing
the feature so that both children and adults aren't bored and most importantly
they cast correctly. Did I say casting? Yes, and here is why...
Horton Hears A Who is created by
Dreamworks, not Pixar. Dreamworks overcasts their animated features.
Overcasting in animation is defined by putting someone with a personality so
pronounced that the audience (at least the adults) are distracted from the
character and spend more time concentrating on the question, "who is that
voice?". HHAW (it is just shorter that way) suffers greatly due to the
casting. Steve Carell and Jim Carrey are both over the top in voice
personality and when you throw the two of them together it is very distracting.
Put that flaw aside, the film is
still a flop for me. The storyline of helping the little guy, "no matter
how small", is a great message that will be lost in the shuffle of evil apes, an
especially cruel kangaroo and goofy overwritten dialogue. In choosing an
animated film, Horton should give way to much better movies such as Finding Nemo
and Cars.

now hang on a second, ur being a bit tought here, i loved this movie.
sure its not the same as a brilliant pixar movie (ratatoulle, monsters inc,
finding nemo ect.) the guys who brought you ica age has still done a good job!
i mean yes i did think like the japanese cartoon thing was a bit too wierd for
me but i did enjoy the little specks city. i was sitting there in amazement and
i loved the poetry, like the book, i like the morrel, i like the clocktower
thing the little boy made
and for once im going to say... the movie was much better than the book ^_^

This was cute, there were a few parts I didn't find necessary to
include (like the random Japanese cartoon scene). Laughed out loud a few times
but could've been funnier. Liked the message of the movie.
