Synopsis:
In feudal China, the King of Qin is waging a
bloody campaign to conquer the entire land. He
has been made a target of three dangerous
assassins: spear-wielding Sky, and the lovers
Broken Sword and Flying Snow. One day word comes
that he has nothing left to fear; a prefect
known only as Nameless has killed all three
assassins. Nameless is called to the palace and
asked to recount the tale of how he accomplished
this amazing feat. After he tells his story,
however, the King notices some flaws in it...
Brian's Rating: A :
Like "Couching Tiger..." this movie uses the cool effect of a type of
choreographed martial arts fighting using wires to float the fighters at times.
It makes for a mystical type of Kung Fu where the fights are still really cool,
but there is an untold power that allows the fighters to defy the laws of
physics. It is sort of like Kung Fu using the Force from Star Wars.
A well made choreographed martial arts fight scene is one of the coolest things
to watch in a movie if you ask me. This movie has those scenes, and combines it
with an artistic means of telling the story.
I do not want to say much about the plot and ruin the movie for anybody who has
not seen it, but it is a good story, and has one of those endings that makes you
think about it more.
I recognize that movies like these are not for everybody, but it is in 'A' in my
book.
Sebastian's Rating: A- : its just
one of those movies that are good entertainment
because of the action.
