Brian's Rating: B+ : This is a niche movie, and I am the niche.  I don't have the first clue about the comic, but from what I saw in the movie, I am sure I would have liked the comic.  Hellboy's attitude reminds me of Wolverine, who was easily my favorite X-men character when I was a kid.  The movie also sports a mix between paranormal stuff and fantasy that is exactly the type of thing that hooks me every time.  The movie is also visually creative and imaginative.  Various scenes with some of the creatures were intriguing, and I like how it was all presented.

I would love to give this movie an 'A' since I thoroughly enjoyed it, however there are some issues with it that are hard to ignore.  I can forgive a plot that is nowhere close to seamless when I know I am watching a movie that is trying to feel like a comic book (Example:  Sin City).  However, the acting of some supporting cast is questionable, and the script writing just does not flow all that well.  There are parts of the movie in the middle where I was just hoping it would move on.

If this is the type of storyline that gets you, like me, then you will enjoy it.  However, I suspect the mainstream audience will just see this as a mistake.
