Synopsis:
Will Hayes, a 30-something Manhattan
dad is in the midst of a divorce when his 10 year old daughter, Maya, starts to
question him about his life before marriage. Maya wants to know absolutely
everything about how her parents met and fell in love. As Maya puts together the
pieces of her dad's romantic puzzle, she begins to understand that love is not
so simple or easy. And as Will tells her his tale, Maya helps him to understand
that it's definitely never too late to go back...and maybe even possible to find
a happy ending.
Sue's Rating: B :
I'm not a usual chick flick fan, but this is a cute one.
Interesting plot with the Dad talking about former girlfriends/lovers with his
daughter. Not sure the lover part makes for great father daughter
conversations, but interesting movie fare.
The Freak's
Rating: C- : I'm not a parent yet, but this
one really stretched believability on what you
would tell your child when they ask questions.
Inconsistencies abound in this story on a guy
who can't make any relationships work. I
hope to one day converse with my child about my
past and be as honest as I can be without being
inappropriate. Abigail Breslin is adorable
as always in this film as the daughter, but one
must wonder how far Ryan Reynolds will coast on
his good looks and when he'll actually take an
acting class if he wants to do anything past
comedy.
The "mystery" of the movie never actually holds
any weight. It is painfully obvious who is
the girl's mother in the first twenty minutes of
the picture and the inevitable reconciliation
(of sorts) is obvious throughout as well.
There are some cute moments in the film, but it
teeters a hair under mediocrity for me.
Jen's
Rating: C : This movie was ok, I didn't like
how it ended at all! Abigail was cute in it as
usual.
