Synopsis:

The most delicious event since macaroni met cheese. Inspired by the beloved children's book, the film focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain.

The Freak's Rating: B+ : One of my major pet peeves are always in full force when I watch a family film. Overcasting is the biggest demise of the genre, casting characters so loud that you can't concentrate on the film and instead picture the actor doing it (Horton Hears A Who is a fine example). CWACOM succeeds beautifully in this element, sporting enough familiarity that you feel attached to the actors yet never crossing into the "who is that?" arena of distraction.

Bill Heder is wonderful as Flint Lockwood, easily the best performance by an actor in a leading role in animation in the past year. His narration of actions is hilarious every time. Supporting roles by Mr. T, James Caan and Anna Faris are nicely done and utilized just enough to solidify their characters and not overdo it. Even the monkey, who has few lines, is quite funny.

The script is nicely done, with enough imagination to captivate the youngest audience member and enough humor to entertain the oldest. Though I did find a few lags in the storyline and some plot holes, it is overall a very entertaining picture and one that should easily find itself in the realm of repeat visits for the youngster who gets to see it.
