Synopsis:
Classic film set in unoccupied Africa
during the early days of World War II: An American expatriate meets a former
lover, with unforeseen complications.
The Freak's
Rating: B+ : A classic film in the truest
sense of the word, Casablanca showcases
fantastic camera angles in a glorious black and
white display. Ingrid Bergman, even with
the soft filters of the day on her, is beautiful
in the role of Ilsa and Humphrey Bogart is
iconic as Rick, the nightclub owner with a
standoffish personality.
Casablanca is a wonderful film, though it did
put my wife to sleep (don't be offended if
you're a cinema junkie - she usually doesn't
make it through B&W films for some reason).
Mystery and romance are nicely done and none of
the cheesiness of many older films is present.
If you truly appreciate film and haven't seen
this one, there is no reason not to give it a
shot.
Jen's
Rating: C : I may be the only person on the
planet giving this movie anything less than an
A. I realize it may have been a revolutionary
film and led to many more great films but...I
just didn't like it very much. Maybe it's
because I really don't enjoy older movies or the
fact that I found it difficult to pay
attention. Either way, I probably won't watch
it again.
