Synopsis:
Ashley plays Agnes, a down on her luck
waitress living in a hotel room in Oklahoma.
Agnes has the normal trashy friends you'd expect
and one of them brings a stranger to her
apartment one evening. The stranger is the
weirdest idea for a character I've seen in quite
some time. Agnes takes him in as male comfort
and the plot thickens (to about the consistency
of running water). I honestly can't tell you any
more of the plot because it would ruin the
movie.
The Freak's
Rating:
D- : I regret that I started this blog after I
saw Come Early Morning. That film was a raw
look at a southern girl who makes incredibly
poor decisions, one right after another. It
was hard to watch sometimes, but Ashley Judd
gave a great performance. If you spot Bug in
your local video store or on-demand, please
look for Come Early Morning instead. It is
worthy of your time.
I'll start this review by showing a few
pictures to you. Ashley Judd is a good
actress and has incredible appeal on a
number of levels. She is an incredible
University of Kentucky supporter and has
given the quote "Movies are work, but
Kentucky basketball is life". She has
held season tickets for years and goes
to every game she can. Whether you like
Kentucky basketball or not, as a sports
lover you must respect her for her
dedication.

Ashley is very likeable in movies. With
a southern charm and a smile, she is
either the abused character you root for
to get her revenge against someone who
wronged her or the sweet girl you want
to cheer for to get romance. The guys
never do seem to notice her, right? This
is how she looks in movies...

At this moment, pickup your Men In Black
memory eraser thingy and prepare it for
use. The previous photographs are the
only ones you are to put into your
memory as it relates to Ashley Judd.
This way she'll remain top candidates
for your theatrical dollar when you hear
of her next inevitable romantic comedy
hitting the screens. Now that you're
ready to erase what you'll see next,
take a gander at her in Bug...

Yup, that is her...half naked,
covered in blood and cut up like a
Thanksgiving turkey. It is flat out
amazing that she did this film. Bug is
based on a single-set play that deals
with the ease of contamination and
manipulation of the human mind,
specifically as it pertains to a woman
losing her sanity.
The idea is ok, but the movie is poor.
Though Ashley does a good job acting, screaming
and torturing herself and others is so
completely opposite her strengths that audiences
will not accept it. This should be a good play,
with a single set and a couple good actors. The
lead male is fairly forgettable and it is
Ashley's movie. That said, you instantly want to
forget she was ever in it.
