Disclaimer:

I realize that the first shot is from The Lord Of The Rings and that the third shot is from a different movie altogether.  There are simply no publicity shots for this film, even from the studio site!  If you come across any, please email them to me and I'll add them immediately.

Synopsis:

In 1590, Coronado dispatched a division of one thousand men to find El Dorado, the legendary city of gold. Those men were never seen again. While searching some Baja peninsula caves as part of an archeological expedition, a university professor and his students unwittingly unleash a long dormant curse. They soon find themselves in a life or death battle with an army of skeletal warriors, the undead remnants of Coronado's conquistadors.

Brian's Rating: D- : I find myself with my family in town at my brother's house again trapped into watching whatever movie is on tap.  He has a knack for serving up the crappiest movies you can find.  This one is MST3K worthy.  It should have been a comedy spoof, maybe it was a comedy.  If only that were true I would not be weeping into my hands right now at the lost 2 hours of my life.  If I wanted to slice off a couple hours from my life I should have just smoked a cigarette instead to trim it off the back end instead.

Now, watching a B-List horror movie, one never expects much.  This one managed to miss even my exceedingly low expectations--it did not even hit the backstop on the dartboard.

Where do I start?  The acting is piss poor.  The special effects must have been done by a group of sixth grade volunteers.  The plot line has so many holes in it that it would be easier to describe the brief bits of continuity than it would to list all the gaps.

The only rationale I can think for spending money to produce this movie was that they were purposely trying to include it in future MST3K showings.  Movies like this are enough to resurrect it.

So why did I not fail it?  Well, for one thing, its not as bad as Facing the Giants.  Secondly, no matter how bad the film is, undead skeletons are still a cool concept, and reminds me of Army of Darkness.
