The Freak's Rating: A : When Pixar first came onto the scene, people were blown away by the animation style. Moving from sketching to fully CGI animation was a tricky step for some studios to grasp ahold of. Movies are typically in development for 2-5 years. Cars 2 has been in development since before the first was released and is set for a 2012 release. Hand-drawn animation, though archaic with its capabilities, allows studios to pump out movies fairly quickly. The adjustment has been well worth the time and energy as now it seems anything not sporting a hopping desk lamp during its opening credits goes unnoticed at the box office.

A Bug's Life was the second in the line of Pixar films, and is one of my favorite films they've created. Having an amazing array of voice actors and perfectly casted villains (I'm looking at you Kevin Spacey), this film is flat out enjoyable in every way. Having just purchased a new television, this was the first film I screened on it and I was blown away at the colors, sharpness and contrast in the film. TV aside, there is far more here than just looks. A Bug's Life capitalizes on many jokes that whiz over youngsters' heads and cause parents to laugh. There is situational and physical humor that can relate to children as well, which is why it is such a great film.

If you're a fan of the Pixar brand and somehow missed this one, pick it up. It is a great family film, one everyone will enjoy!
